Being a Board member for the Mt. Baker Chapter of SHRM is an opportunity to help your local chapter and forward the HR profession.
The Board of the Mt. Baker Chapter of SHRM is an all volunteer Board composed of professionals working in the human resources or related field. Some positions require SHRM membership or a certification and all positions have an annual term (January – December). The Board meets monthly to address chapter issues ranging from budget to programs.

Patricia Boteler, SHRM-CP
Talent Manager - Samson Rope
Patricia Boteler is the Talent Manager at Samson, the world’s leading manufacturer of high performance synthetic rope. Responsible for attracting, engaging and retaining talent, leading all functions of employer branding, talent acquisition, corporate social responsibility, and employee engagement.
Patricia graduated from the College of the Environment at WWU, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Geography/Social Studies. She has been a member of SHRM since 2018 and was awarded the SHRM-CP in 2021.
This is her sixth year serving on the board and first year as President.
Amelia Mendenhall
Employee Benefits Broker - Rice Insurance
Amelia started her career in insurance immediately following graduation from Washington State University. A Bellingham resident for most of her life, she is fortunate to work with one of the largest remaining locally owned, independent brokerages on the west coast, headquartered right in her home town. Amelia is an Employee Benefits Consultant with Rice Insurance, fully aware of the uniqueness of her profession. A company’s offerings impact their business on all levels, affecting operations and culture from the top down. To be able to provide clarity, affordability and solutions not only to employers but their employees and families as well, enables Amelia to contribute positively to both her local community and clients throughout the country.
This is Amelia’s third year serving on the board. She brings with her experience from previously held positions with the Whatcom County Association of Realtors, Whatcom Young Professionals and Big Brothers Big Sisters of NW Washington.
Caitlin Walsh, SHRM-CP
HR Coordinator - Samson Rope
Caitlin Walsh graduated from Western Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and minors in music and English. She completed her HR Certificate at BTC in 2021 and has been working as the HR Coordinator at Samson Rope in Ferndale for nearly 2 years. Caitlin has been a member of SHRM since 2021 and 2023 is her first year on the board.
Adriana Silva, SHRM-CP
Sr. HR Generalist - Smith Gardens
Adriana was born and raised in Colombia and moved to the States over 12 years ago. She started her career in the Ski industry, where she found her passion for HR and the outdoors. Currently, she works at Smith Gardens as a Sr. HR Generalist supporting over 300 employees in 3 different states.
When Adriana is not at work, she is enjoying the beauty of the outdoors with her partner and dog.
This is Adriana's second year serving as a board member.
Kerry Read
HR Manager - Saturna Capital
Kerry Read is the Human Resources Manager for Saturna Capital, based in Bellingham, WA, where she oversees recruitment, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration and payroll for staff in 9 states. She has over 20 years of experience in HR with several Whatcom County employers in healthcare, non-profit, manufacturing and finance industries.
Kerry has been a member of the Mt. Baker SHRM chapter since 2008. This is her first year serving on the board.
Ryann Butela
Assistant HR Manager - Lynden Door
Ryann Butela is the Assistant Human Resources Manager for Lynden Door, a family owned and operated door manufacturing business based in Lynden, WA. She began her HR career in 2014 and has experience working in banking, local government, and manufacturing. Ryann’s current responsibilities include leave of absence management, workers compensation, policy administration, and day-to-day management of the Lynden Door HR Team. Ryann holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Western Washington University. This is her first year serving on the board.
Caitlin McDavid
Talent Acquisition Specialist - Campus Recruitment - HSS Enterprises Inc.
Caitlin McDavid graduated from the University of Arizona with a BA degree in Business Management and minors in both Communications and Global Business. Caitlin moved from Arizona to Washington in 2014. During her time in retail management, she discovered a passion for the human relations side of business. In 2018, she earned her MBA in Strategic Human Resource Management from Grand Canyon University and the following year her SHRM-CP certification. After two years as the HR Generalist at IKO Pacific Inc. in Sumas, WA, Caitlin was internally promoted to Talent Acquisition Specialist - Campus Recruitment with HSS Enterprises Inc.
Shannon Jacoby
Professional Staffing Recruiter - Express Employment Professionals
Shannon graduated from Western Washington University with a BS in Human Resource Management. She is currently working for the Bellingham office and has been employed there for almost 17 years. She is responsible for the Professional Staffing Niche - Accounting/Finance and HR. She started with commercial staffing, moved to professional staffing, and during the recession oversaw professional staffing and administrative staffing. She moved back to professional staffing 3 years ago! Shannon was SHRM Member of the year in 2011 and 2013, has received multiple awards for staffing, and achieved the Century Club in 2018
Marley Morgan, SHRM-CP
Human Resources Generalist - City of Bellingham
Marley Morgan is an HR Generalist for the City of Bellingham, specializing in Recruitment and Classification. Marley conducts selection and recruitment activities consistent with the goals and intent of Civil Service and/or the applicable collective bargaining unit.
Marley has a BA in Communications from Richmond, The American International University In London.
Sheila Ray, SHRM-CP
Human Resources Manager - Kam-Way Transportation
Sheila has over 19 years of experience in HR and Management; providing leadership relating to all aspects of HR including recruitment, payroll, benefit administration, and compliance. Prior to her pursuing her passion to work in HR she had experience working in accounting.
Sheila has been a member of SHRM since 2006 and is a SHRM Certified Professional. This is Sheila’s sith year on the Mt. Baker SHRM Board.
Jessica Holz, SHRM-CP
Human Resources Manager - Grizzly Industrial, Inc.
Jessica is the Human Resources Manager at Grizzly Industrial, Inc., the country’s largest wood- and metalworking machinery company. She has been with Grizzly over 12 years, starting out as the assistant to the Human Resources Director, and now oversees the entire human resources function, with a focus on strategic planning and workforce management. Prior to working in human resources, Jessica was a legal assistant at various law offices in Bellingham, focusing on criminal defense and employment law.
Jessica holds a B.A. in Psychology from Western Washington University as well as her SHRM-CP. She has been a member of SHRM since 2020 and this is her first year on the board.
Eddy Lindenstein
HCM Consultant - Paylocity
Eddy Lindenstein is a Human Capital Management Consultant for Paylocity. Eddy is a graduate of Western Washington University and worked for Sports Radio KJR in Seattle before spending several years in Non-Profit Fundraising and Event Planning in the Northwest. After his non-profit career ended, Eddy began working in HR Technology in 2011 and has loves working with Human Resource Professionals every day.
This is Eddy’s third year on the Mt. Baker SHRM Board and he is bringing his social media experience and communication background to the chapter with excitement and enthusiasm to help the local HR community.
Eddy also volunteers for the Girl Scouts of America and enjoys motorcycle riding, podcasting and weightlifting in his free time.
Jane Parsons
HR Coordinator - Kam-Way Transportation
Jane Parsons is the Human Resources Coordinator at Kam-Way Transportation Inc., a family owned and operated supply chain and logistics corporation based in Blaine, WA. She is responsible for talent acquisition, onboarding, engagement and retention and for promoting company culture and core values.
Jane moved to Whatcom County from Salt Lake City in 2002. She began her career in HR in 2018 after having worked as a legal assistant for 12 years. Jane has been a member of SHRM since 2018 and this is her first year serving on the board.
Marta Wells, SHRM-CP
Regional Recruiter - Pennant Services
Marta Wells is a Regional Recruiter for the Pacific Northwest for Pennant Services, an emerging leader in the home care, hospice, and senior living industries. Marta is responsible for sourcing, attracting, engaging, and retaining talent in three states while contributing to employer branding, employee engagement, and consulting on other HR-related responsibilities.
Marta started her career in healthcare as an Executive Director/CEO in the home health sector managing multi-million-dollar agencies. Prior to this career, Marta held leadership roles in industries as diverse as education, construction, and IT. Her love of human resources led her to seek her Bachelor of Science, Business - Human Resource Management degree, and SHRM-CP certification, completing both in June of 2022. This has aided in continuing her focus on an HR career.
When she isn’t working, Marta enjoys spending time with her seven children and two grandchildren. Some of her interests are hiking, running, reading, writing, music, movies, and traveling. This is her first year serving on the Mt. Baker SHRM board.
