Shared Work is a program of the Employment Security Department. It's celebrating its 40th year anniversary. Businesses qualify when they have at least two permanent employees, who are not corporate officers, affected by a reduction in hours and wages. The employee keeps working at least 50% of their regular hours, and the employer leverages their unemployment insurance using the SharedWork program with a prorated amount to supplement the lost wages. This saves the business and creates the path to retaining its workforce. The SharedWork program is a smart alternative to full layoffs and a proven business solution for managing weekly operations.
