What We'll Cover:
The presentation will focus on employment and labor law legislation that passed in 2024. We will review what each organization might need to do to comply with the new legislation. By reviewing the legislation that both passed and failed to move we will also discuss what is expected to move in the future. Everyone that attends should have a better understanding of the current trends in the areas of Paid Family Medical Leave, Unemployment Insurance Compensation, Workers' Compensation and general HR issues. The presentation will give the opportunity to ask questions about the implementation of the new laws. We will also discuss what the future may hold regarding new legislation in 2025.

- Understand the implications of changes to key legislation
- Identify policies, trainings, and agreements affected by the legislative changes
- Develop an action plan to bring their company into compliance with the changed legislation
About Our Presenter: Bob Battles

Bob Battles is AWB’s General Counsel and Director of Government Affairs for Employment Law Issues. He is responsible for workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, Paid Family and Medical leave and other workplace issues, including wage and hour, workplace safety, immigration, minimum wage, and paid sick leave matters. In addition, he handles privacy and data breach matters for AWB. Bob has over 3 decades of experience as an attorney specializing in workplace issues and government affairs. He began his career with the Washington State Attorney General in the Labor and Industries Division. After 10 years with the AGO Bob spent 12 years in private practice at several Puget Sound-area law firms, including Lane Powell PC and Eisenhower Carlson PLLC. While in private practice he represented clients in regulatory issues and complex litigation including the Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act (WISHA) and industrial insurance defense. He has litigated cases at all levels in Washington State including the Washington State Court of Appeals and the Washington State Supreme Court. He has also appeared before the United States District Court and the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
