Mt. Baker Chapter of SHRM

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee

Volunteer Opportunity

The Mt. Baker Chapter of SHRM’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee is dedicated to advancing inclusive practices within our chapter and strengthening equity and belonging across the local HR community.

This committee works to integrate a DEI lens into chapter programs, events, and community engagement while providing education, resources, and advocacy that support HR professionals in leading inclusive workplaces. The DEI Committee plays an active role in shaping chapter initiatives, partnering with local organizations, recognizing cultural observances, and supporting access to DEI learning and credentials.

Committee members serve one‑year terms and represent a variety of backgrounds, industries, and career stages. Members meet monthly and typically contribute 1–3 hours per month through meetings, working groups, and project work.

This opportunity is ideal for members who:

  • Are passionate about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Want to contribute to meaningful community‑focused initiatives
  • Are interested in DEI education, advocacy, and resource development
  • Value collaboration, learning, and local impact

Participation on the DEI Committee offers a meaningful way to live our chapter values through action and help ensure Mt. Baker SHRM remains an inclusive, welcoming space for all HR professionals in Whatcom County.

To learn more about the DEI Committee, submit events for consideration, or apply to serve, please review the DEI Committee Application linked below or email our DEI Director Emily Boehm at emily@evergreenworkforceconsulting.com.
